iStock_000016484776XSmallAs the spring season rolls around once again, many employees will take time to go on a vacation with their families. Whether hitting the slopes, taking an international excursion, or relaxing on the beach closer to home, follow these precautions to ensure that you and your family members stay safe and healthy during your vacation. One thing to consider is how much this trip is going to affect you financially. One thing some over 55’s have been doing is releasing equity, in order to go on these vacations without feeling burdened by the costs. Of course, when going on an extravagant vacation, it can cost a lot, but it’s often worth it for the memories that you can create with your family. If you have some older children, you can enjoy a relaxing holiday without having to worry about them acting up or throwing tantrums. They can even join you for evening meals and drinks. If they’re slightly underage, they could always buy a fake id and experience more of the nightlife. A few drinks won’t hurt them, and they might enjoy their vacation more after some drinks. Whatever you choose to do, make sure the whole family enjoys themselves.

International, City, or Adventure Trips:

  • Get vaccinated. If going abroad, check which vaccinations are necessary and which are suggested for your destination. Certain regions are more prone to various infectious diseases – if you do not get vaccinated, you could get very sick and transmit the disease to others.
  • Think about purchasing travel insurance. Especially for a foreign or adventure trip, this may come in handy if someone in your family takes a fall, breaks a bone, or is in need of any kind of medical attention.
  • Be cautious of what you eat and drink. In developing countries, there is a higher risk of pathogens in the water. Make sure to only consume foods that have been cooked completely, and only eat vegetables that you can peel yourself. Only drink sealed, bottled waters and drinks. When it concerns your food and drink, you may even decide to do the same if you’re thinking about taking a beach trip closer to home. • Avoid being a target of crime. Keep money out of sight and in a safe place on your body. Only carry with you the necessary amount of money that you need and keep an eye on your personal items at all times. If leaving expensive personal items in a hotel room, make sure to lock them in a safe box. If you’re staying in a Rental Cloud villa, this still applies to you. No matter where you’re staying you need to make sure that all valuables are locked away. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Beach or Water Vacations:

  • Wear sunscreen and protective clothing, limit sun exposure, and remember that the sun is hottest from 10 am – 4 pm. Overexposure to the sun can have many damaging short and long term effects including sun poisoning, extreme dehydration and skin cancers.
  • Drink plenty of water if in the sun for extended periods of time.
  • Only swim in designated areas. Certain areas may not be permitted for swimming because of very dangerous reasons, such as bacterial infection, water depth, rip tides, or animal dangers.
