On September 9th, we published a Preparis Blog post explaining what Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is, what the symptoms are, how it is transmitted, who is at risk, and what precautions your company can take. At that time, confirmed cases were identified in 10 states. Exactly one month later, there are nearly 600 confirmed cases in 43 states and at least one death attributed to the disease.
The spread of this virus, its severity, and even its timing should prompt you to exercise your incident management or pandemic plan so your employees know exactly what to do to prepare in case the impact continues to expand. With flu season approaching, it is important to know how the business is expected to continue operations when the workforce is reduced (who absorbs whose responsibilities, what tasks can be put on hold, etc.) so the impact on your customers and suppliers is as low as possible.
