It has been reported that the official Twitter account for the United States Central Command, the military command center charged with overseeing military operations for much of the Middle East, has been hacked. The account was flooded with messages promoting the Islamic state, including “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate continues its CyberJihad” (US Centcom Twitter account ‘hacked by Islamic State’). Some sources indicate personal data like phone numbers and email addresses for military commanders were also posted.
